On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Sourav Ganguly was designated as the head coach of the Delhi Capitals, succeeding Hemang Badani, who had served as the franchise’s head coach for the previous two seasons. Although Sourav Ganguly has been involved with Delhi’s setup in various capacities since 2019, this is his first coaching role with an Indian Premier League team. Sourav Ganguly also served as the head coach of Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 earlier this year.
After being traded for Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant has been reinstated by the Delhi Capitals. Before joining the Lucknow Super Giants in 2025, the wicketkeeper-batter played 111 matches for Delhi Capitals and scored 3,284 runs. Pant amassed 581 runs in 28 matches over the course of his two seasons with LSG. After the team finished at the bottom of the table in IPL 2026, he resigned as Lucknow’s captain and has since returned to his former franchise.

Sourav Ganguly vision for Delhi Capitals
Sourav Ganguly has been affiliated with Delhi Capitals since 2019 and was instrumental in the development of the team that advanced to the 2020 IPL final.
