Ayush Badoni Focuses on Wicket Value as Delhi Captain

Ahead of the 2017 domestic season, Ayush Badoni, 26, has been named captain of Delhi’s senior Ranji Trophy team. The assistant captain will be Yash Dhull. Delhi’s campaign against Bengal will begin on October 11 in Kalyani. Delhi, which hasn’t reached the knockout stages since the 2017-18 season, is seeking to make a comeback.

Ayush Badoni has a strong track record of success in this position. With four hundreds and ten half-centuries, the batter has averaged 54 runs in 38 innings. His playing style emphasises discipline and turning starts into major scores, skills he hopes to impart in the team. Badoni has spoken candidly about his captaincy style and the challenges that Delhi’s bowling attack will encounter.

Ayush Badoni takes over and emphasises batting discipline.

As captain, Ayush Badoni is most concerned with turning his individual batting discipline into a team-wide approach. The 26-year-old has learned from his own experience the importance of not squandering wickets by making rash shots. He is determined to use his batting performances as an example.

Bowling experience and depth are important concerns.

Due to injuries to key players, Delhi’s bowling attack has been hampered, forcing the club to rely on a mix of experienced veterans and emerging talent. Navdeep Saini leads the pace attack, with Simarjeet Singh, Money Grewal, and Divij Mehra providing additional support. Badoni acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining consistency in the absence of a full team.

Throughout its history, Delhi has won seven Ranji Trophies. There is a significant gap in the domestic competition because the team has not moved to the knockout stages since 2017-18. Delhi’s opening encounter versus Bengal would test Badoni’s captaincy right immediately.
